Our Story

Shoes for Hope was founded in 2015 by Charles Ray. Only in the 3rd grade when his baby sister passed away at birth, Charles was inspired to honor her memory by collecting shoes for those in need in our Atlanta community. What started as a two-hour shoe collection in the front yard in 2015, has grown each year to provide thousands of shoes to men, women and children over the past 10 years.

When Charles graduated from high school and headed off to college in 2024, his younger sister, Caroline, took over as CEO and President of Shoes for Hope. Under her leadership, Shoes for Hope now collects new and gently used shoes year round and has partnered with Atlanta Mission to provide a new pair of school shoes for each child receiving their services.

Charles and Caroline are immensely grateful for the long standing and amazing support of this wonderful Atlanta community to come together to help those in need.
